Hello AAAA members and friends!
I hope this note finds you well. Coronavirus has certainly changed the day to day life of the world today. I’m sure it comes as no surprise that this has impacted our organization as well. Our next event, the spring auction, was scheduled for April 19th. However, the venue only fully refunds our payment if we cancel a month in advance of the event. This event is a large sum of money for our small organization. At this time, the venue has not closed, yet they are urging us to cancel our events. Furthermore, the CDC is also recommending that all events of 50 or more people be canceled for the next 8 weeks.
Today with all these things in mind and for the safety of all our members and guests, the AAAA Board of Directors voted with a unanimous voice to cancel the Spring 2020 Auction. I know this pains all of us as it is one of the most fun events we do every year. At this time, rescheduling is not an option as we have speakers scheduled for the months ahead AND the venue has locked out any rental options on their website at this time.
Rest assured, we are going to continue to monitor the situation closely. Given the recommendations of the CDC, I have ask the Board of Directors to stay in close communication about the May meeting as we will need to decide about that before April 2nd.
Now for my request. Given that we will not be able to hang out like we normally would, PLEASE write an article or submit a picture for our newsletter, Fish Talk. Nothing would bring me more joy than a huge issue of fishy goodness to get us through these cabin fevered days. Articles and pictures can be submitted to AAAAFishTalk@gmail.com. Also, chat more on the forum. David has been posting a Question of the Week every week now and those are some great ways to learn about each other.
